Zachary's Mardi Gras parade at Bayou View Elementary

Last week Zachary's school had a Mardi Gras parade. It was supposed to be the Friday before Fat Tuesday but we had bad weather and they canceled school that day. Thankfully they just rescheduled the parade for the following Friday. The kindergartners ride on flatbed trailers and throw beads to the rest of the kids in the school. (Jason drove Martin's truck pulling Martin's flatbed for Zachary's class.) Here is Addie waiting for Z's class to come out to get on the trailer.

Big Z in his mask.Addie wanted to ride on the trailer but they wouldn't let her. I tried getting her to stand with me and catch the beads but she wanted to ride with Jason in the truck.
Here is his class waiting for the parade to start.
Here you can see Jason's truck coming towards me.When I put Addison in the truck I strapped her down with the seat belt. As the truck got closer I saw her head peaking out. I had no idea she'd be throwing beads herself! She was having a ball!

Gulfport's Mardi Gras Parade

Tonight we took the kids to a Gulfport Mardi Gras parade. Chuck invited us to park at their church and walk over to the parade. We stopped inside the church where they had some food and waited till it got closer to parade time. It is super cold here so we bundled up in layers. Both Zachary and Addie were very excited about catching some beads! Here they are before walking over to get our spot at the parade.
We got there kind of early so we just hung out and waited.
Here are the carts that people push around and sell over priced stuff. It's like crack for kids.
Since we had time to wait I took a lot of pictures. Here are the many faces of Zach....
Addie actually sat for about one minute.
The parade is getting closer!
This was Addison's first parade. She really got into it. She was even waving at the people on the floats (and I use that term lightly) trying to get beads/toys.
Yea! She got a toy!
At one point Jason tried picking both kids up.
Throw me somethin' Mister!!
Addie is guarding the bag of goodies. I actually did hold her most of the time but I'd put her down from time to time to take pictures.
I'm telling you, the kids were a magnet for stuffed animals. It was great! Some gal gave Addie a huge pink bunny. They got lots of other smaller stuffed animals, as well as, a Frisbee, a cup, a fake rose, moon pies, a sword and a spear. The parade isn't anything like the one in Mobile we went to last year but the kids had fun and that is all that matters.

Snow in Mississippi!

Although it only lasted about ten minutes we had some snow in Mississippi this morning. Hopefully we will get some more this afternoon. But at least the kids got to see it! I can't wait for them to experience real snow in Kansas some time. Where they can actually go sledding down a hill. In the meantime, this will do. Zachary was very excited about seeing it. Addie was too until she got out there. At first she wasn't sure she liked it and then she decided she wasn't as impressed as Z. Here are a few pictures from this morning.
Z trying to catch a flake on his tongue.
I couldn't decide which pictures of Zach I liked best so I decided just to put them all in here.

Zachary's top front teeth.......or lack there of.

Zachary went to the dentist yesterday for his annual visit. The gal that cleaned his teeth said his top front tooth was the loosest tooth she's ever seen. She wanted to pull it so badly but Zach wouldn't let her. She did give him a big plastic tooth to keep it in for when the tooth fairy came. Last night he and Jason worked on it till it came out. He was so excited when he got his dollar bill this morning.

Superbowl Party

YEA SAINTS!!!!!
On Sunday Jason and I hosted a Superbowl party for family and friends. We were all very very excited that the Saints were in the Superbowl for the very first time. It was a lot of fun and it was a great game. Here are a few pictures from that day....
This is Jacob (Justin & Julie's little one). He had so much fun running (and I do mean running) around our house.
Addie was using the Flip camcorder. What a ham.
Would have been a darling picture if Big Z would have smiled normally!
Fireplace pictures....
This is Maggie (David & Nicole's little one).
All of the kids (besides Zachary) were lined up in the playroom watching a video.
Hope everyone enjoyed the Superbowl as much as we did.
GEAUX SAINTS!!!
