Confirmation

Tonight I had my first confirmation class at our church, St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Until recently I had been a little reluctant about converting to the Episcopal faith. Not because I didn't like it but because I felt giving up being a Methodist was giving up part of who I was. Which is really silly because I've never been all that religious. When I was young I would throw a fit about having to get up to go to church. Not because I hated church but because I really loved to sleep in. But now that I'm older and have a family it is important to me that we are all the same religion. St. Mark's has just built a brand new beautifdul church not far from us. The old one was on the beach before Katrina. If you click here and scroll down a bit on the page you can see before and after pictures of the church on the beach. We had Addison baptised at the new church but unfortunately it was in a temporary "double wide" while the new one was being built. Like I said before, I've never been all that religious so I wasn't sure what to expect tonight. I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed listening to Father Roberts. He's a very down to earth type of man who has a great sense of humor. Speaking comes very easy to him. Which is not surprising given that he does it so often. I look forward to the rest of my classes. I think there are either five or six in total.

A wee bit late...

I cannot believe I am just now blogging about our Christmas. Better late than never I suppose. It was a lot of fun this Christmas. Zachary was really in to Santa and putting things on his "list." We put out milk and cookies for the big guy downstairs by the couch so he could sit and rest and enjoy his refreshment. We put the tree upstairs in the game room again this year because I thought it just might be too much of a temptation for Addison. She has a habit of opening gifts before they are suppose to be opened. Besides that we really don't have a good spot in our den for a tree. Here's a picture of the tree, it was prettier in person. We ended up getting it kind of late so it was a little smaller than normal. It was still a good tree though.
On Christmas Eve after Addie had gone to bed Zachary took some pictures of the tree with his digital camera.
He thought it would be funny for the two of us to take a picture of each other taking a picture of each other.
This picture cracks me up. I think he looks like one of Santa's elves.
Zachary & Daddy
He decided to sing us a little song before going to bed.
On Christmas morning Zachary ran into our room around seven a.m. and asked if Santa had come. We went out to open our stockings and Addie woke up around that time. Afterwards we went upstairs to see what Santa had brought.
We had planned on Santa giving Addison her kitchen set but Zachary found the boxes out in the garage. We were afraid he would put two and two together so we said they were from mom and dad. Of course Addie needed her big brother to help her open it. It's not pictured here but Grandmama & Pop gave her the refrigerator.
Lainey wasn't really that impressed with the presents.
Addie's toe just cracks me up.
We went over to Jason's parents for the rest of the day. On the way there I went to take a picture of Zachary and he wanted me to take a pic of Anthony instead.
I didn't really take many pictures inside the house. I was too busy drinking mimosas I guess.
Zachary got a Handy Manny Doll and tools. He walked around the house trying to fix things.
It was actually pretty warm that day. Didn't really feel like Christmas weather but it was still a lot of fun. Grandmama & Pop gave the girls each a wagon. It was a big hit!
I didn't get very many pictures of the adults that day but I thought this picture of Sarah & Sophie turned out a little weird. Look at Sarah's hand. She was obviously moving it.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I really enjoyed getting everyone's cards this year. Hope y'all are having a good new year!!

What in the world is he thinking..

My friend, Kim, posted this video on her blog and I could not stop laughing. The woman laughing is just as funny as the dog himself. Enjoy!

This could easily be about K-State...

but as it turns out it's about A&M's football season. It is so funny though I had to post it. If you don't know anything about College Station the first part isn't as funny.

Zachary's 5th Birthday Party

I am finally getting around to posting about Zachary's 5th birthday party. We had it on the 13th (his birthday is Dec. 4th) because we went to Dallas for our friends, Keith & Stacey's, wedding the weekend after his birthday. We had the party at the house like last year. Last year happened to be warm on the day of the party. This year it was kind of chilly. It wasn't raining though so I was happy! We rented an inflatable like last year but this one was an obstacle course. I actually asked for one that was a little bit smaller but the one I wanted was being repaired so he gave me a deal on the biggest one they had.

As you can see it is huge. Luckily we have a long backyard. The kids had so much fun playing in it. Of course we had some yummy food and Backyardagains cupcakes.

You can tell from Addie's red nose that it was cold!

Miss Sophie opted for our smaller inflatable.

Zachary showed some of his friends his playroom. I know the parents were happy to come inside and warm up a little!

After everyone went home Addison
and I got in.
Sarah had the bright idea of racing me in the obstacle course. All I have to say is thank goodness no one captured the actual race on camera. Here is Sarah catching her breath after we finished. As you can see to the left of her I am passed out.
I knew this would happen sooner or later. Addie & Sophie showed up to a party wearing the same outfit. Luckily it made for some really cute pictures.

Happy New Year!

I know I still need to blog about Zachary's fifth birthday party and Christmas but we just got back from the beach yesterday where we spent New Years. It was so much fun I wanted to post about it while it is all still fresh in my mind. The five of us went (this includes our dog Simon), John, Sarah, Sophie & Dixie, and of course, Martin & Linda. We got there late Wednesday afternoon. The wind was pretty strong so it was super chilly. We wanted to shoot off fireworks for New Years but it was just too windy. Having a fire cracker come down on the roof would not be a good way to start the new year. We grilled burgers and had a yummy meal. The kids played a lot and all three slept well that night. Thursday's weather was much better. Sarah and I took the girls in town to go to a really neat park. They had a blast climbing up all of the stairs and going down the slides. This post would be twice as long if I put in all of the pictures of the girls playing together. So I will add a few slide shows. The first one is of Addie & Sophie at the park:
That afternoon the weather was so nice we sat outside while the kids played in the sand.
The guys (including Zach) collected all of the drift wood in the area and piled it up for a bonfire.

That night we lit the fire and roasted marshmallows and made smores. Zachary likes all three (graham crackers, marshmallows & chocolate) but prefers to eat them separately. We did get him to take a few bits of a smore though. The many faces of Zach....After dinner Jason and John put on a spectacular fireworks show! Fourth of July Addison didn't like the fireworks so much, they scared her. This time she really enjoyed them. She sat with Pop and ate graham crackers and ice.I asked Zachary how loud the fireworks were. He said they were this loud.Zachary & GrandmamaJason & John resting after the fireworks display.Throughout our time there Addison and Sophie played really well together. The first time they've truly interacted with each other. First they played on some chairs then in the blinds. It was so funny because one would shake the blinds and make the other laugh. Then the other would do it. I've made another slide show of all of this... Friday was yet another beautiful day. The guys collected more driftwood to make an even bigger fire. This time the girls and I watched the fireworks inside. They really enjoyed the show! Dixie on the other hand did not. She does not like the noise of the fireworks and paced around the house with a tennis ball in her mouth.Simon just chilled out. After the fireworks we had a yummy dinner, boiled shrimp. I actually ate them. They were really good. We had such a good time at the bay for New Years! Hope everyone had a great one as well!!
