We celebrated Sophie's 2nd birthday last Thursday. What a precious little girl she is. It was a wonderful party. Perfect weather for taking pictures outside so I took a lot.

Zachary's first fish!
Last weekend we went to the bay. On Saturday, Jason's Aunt Becky & Uncle Richard came over and brought their two grandsons, Chase & Braxton. Chase is Zachary's age so Z was very excited about having a playmate for the day. They got there a little bit before we left to go fishing (more on that later). When we got back the boys did some fishing of their own. Here is Richard helping them catch their first fish.
Chase caught the first one.
Not long after, Zachary caught one. His very first fish!
Here he is showing his daddy.
The boys kept fishing but they did take a break to check out the crabs....

I was enjoying taking pictures of Zachary with his fish. He was so proud. He wanted to save it to use as bait.

I think this picture is so sweet.

Addie knows the importance of sunscreen.

Okay....so the fishing trip. Where do I begin. Well it was rough as all get out. I finally got to go fishing for the first time all summer and I was really looking forward to it. Jeb & his girlfriend, Melissa, joined us for the adventure. Jason told me while he was at the marina getting gas that someone said it was rough out. We had no idea. There were like 6-8 ft. waves and it took over an hour to go 13 miles. But, besides being soaked head to toe from the waves crashing into the boat, I was fine on the way out there. When we finally got to where we were going I asked Melissa if she ever got sea sick. She said no, not really. At that very moment I thought I felt something coming on so I went and got Linda's wrist bands that are supposed to help with motion sickness. Yeah....I was a little late in putting those on. It was so rough we were all having a hard time just standing up in the boat. While Jason manned the boat/steering, Jeb & Melissa got a couple rods in the water. I, however, was concentrating on not throwing up. Jeb got one bite but lost it and after about 15 minutes I literally could not stand it any longer. Jason says if I had actually thrown up I would have felt better. I don't doubt him but all your life you try NOT to throw up so I just couldn't make myself do it. It was the worst feeling in the world. Seriously, one of the very worst. So we headed back in. I felt horrible but I really don't think we would have been able to catch anything anyways since it was so bad out. Once we got back to the house Jason and Jeb decided to chill out and have a beer. Melissa and I laid out for a bit trying to dry off from the wet ride. I'm glad we came back early though because we got to see Zachary catch his first fish. I am disappointed though. I was looking forward to bringing dinner home. It was the last weekend for Red Snapper fishing.

Our baby's growing up.....
Tomorrow Zachary starts Kindergarten. I cannot believe he's going to big kid school. He is SOOO incredibly excited about it though. We have his big kid back pack ready to go and his new Mario Kart lunch box. I am so excited about his new school. As most of you may know I got him approved for an out of district transfer so that he could go to Bayou View Elementary. It is a 5 star school and the top elementary in the state of Mississippi. 18 of his classmates from preschool are going there as well. Unfortunately he only has one in his class (there are five! kindergarten classes). However, they all go out to recess at the same time so he will be able to play with all of his buddies. We can even go eat lunch with him whenever we want. They actually eat lunch at 10:45. Crazy! They do start school at 7:20 so I guess it's not that weird. I hope he can sleep tonight. We have to get up pretty early tomorrow morning. I will take pictures and post them tomorrow.
Today we had a 'meet the teacher day.' When I enrolled him they gave me a list of supplies to bring and so we brought them today as well. Here is Zach and Jason walking up to the school.
Trying to walk into the school (this door was locked).
Zachary peering into his new classroom!
Here is Avery, the one buddy from Trinity (preschool). I didn't take a picture of his teacher. I didn't want to freak her out. Maybe I'll try for one tomorrow.Tuesday, July 28, 2009
The Faulkner's Visit: Summer of 2009
We had such a good time with Tracy, Jeff, Reed & Graham. So sad to see them leave. Zachary had so much fun playing with the boys.
Not sure why but you have to click on the little white "Talk" box in the lower left hand corner of the slide show to see my comments. You just have to click on it once.

Waiting for Gavin
Zachary's best friend, Gavin, spent the night last Friday night. He came over around 5:30 that evening. As soon as Zach woke up Friday morning he started asking for Gavin. Needless to say it was a long day for him. Here he is waiting outside in the driveway because he just couldn't stay inside and wait any longer.
Addison's First Haircut
This morning I took Addison to get her first haircut. Looking back at my baby pictures I had exactly the same hair that Addie does now. Full on mullet. She didn't stand a chance. I took her to my friend, Bevin, who cuts my hair. Here she is before we left.
Of course I had to get a picture of her sweet outfit.
I was hoping that she would sit by herself so I could take pictures of her. But she wasn't having any of that. A nice woman who was getting her hair colored offered to snap a few pictures for me.
I tried leaning out of the way of the picture. Obviously it didn't work.
Doesn't she look so excited! She actually did really well. She didn't cry at all but was very interested in what was going on around her. She kept turning her head. But Bevin was very patient and did a great job.Thursday, July 2, 2009
Happy 4th of July!
I hope everyone has a safe and happy fourth of July. We are heading back to the bay this afternoon. Looking forward to fun in the sun, watching fireworks, drinking a few beers, and visiting with family (whom we don't get to see very often). Here is a picture of Zachary and Martin from last weekend. Zachary gave Pop these tshirts for Christmas and they are finally getting to wear them. They actually say "Pop" and "Zachary."
I put Addie in piggy tails today. It's a little hard to see since she has dark hair and the fireplace is dark behind her. She looks so much older though. So sweet!

I walked him into school. Of course we had to stop and take a picture in front of the school sign!!

They have sinks in the hallway (at the perfect height) for the kids to wash their hands. Zach wanted to try one out.

Why can't he ever just smile normal for me!!!!
